The European Parliament Approves the Nature Restoration Law
The European Parliament has approved a new law that aims to restore nature across the European Union. The law, known as the Nature Restoration Law, will require member states to take steps to restore damaged ecosystems, such as forests, wetlands, and coastal areas.
The law represents a historic step with respect to combating climate change and biodiversity loss. It is estimated that the law could help remove up to 3 billion tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere annually. In addition to that, everyone is predicting that it could also help create a lot of new jobs and thus boost the economy.
The Nature Restoration Act of June 22, 2022 is a landmark piece of legislation that will hopefully have a positive impact on the environment and the economy. This law, at least on paper, is a clear signal of the Union’s commitment to protecting nature and addressing climate change.
Here in brief are some of the main provisions of the Nature Restoration Law
Member states will have to set ambitious goals for the restoration of natural ecosystems and will have to develop precise plans to achieve these goals.
Member states will have to continuously monitor the progress of their restoration efforts.
They will have to timely report all their progress in detail to the European Commission.
The Nature Restoration Law is an important step forward in the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss. The law is a clear signal of the European Union’s commitment to protecting nature and addressing climate change. The only problem remains the fact that in many European countries there are organizations that make a lot of money from waste. We will see if it will be possible to reconcile two such different interests.
Soon in this blog an article on the waste business in Italy.
